Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA Aceh) - French company, Akuo Energy, with core business in renewable energy development, said it would develop wind energy, water energy and biomass energy to generate power in a number of areas in Aceh.

"We see a big potential of wind, water and biomass energy in Aceh," Managing Director of Akuo Energy for Indonesia, Christophe Moyon, said at a meeting with Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf here on Monday.

Christophe said Akuo energy will carry out feasibility study on construction of power plants using wind, water and biomass energy in Aceh, adding the study will take a year.

Power plants using wind energy are likely to be built in Krueng Raya and Lhoknga with 50 turbines and output of at least 100 megawatts.

Biomass power plants would be potential in Simeulue with a capacity of 3 megawatts .

Power plant using water energy is potential to be built in the district of Central Aceh with a capacity of 6 megawatts.

The projects would be built in November after securing the license and the feasibility study to be operational in 2021.

"If the projects are successful Aceh would be an icon for development of renewable energy for Sumatra and would encourage development of renewable energy all over the country," Christophe said.

Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf asked Akuo Energy to immediately seeks the license that the project could be implemented as soon as possible.

Irwandi also asked Akuo Energi to invite local investors to join to take part in the projects .

"I want the projects to be implemented . So far many investors made presentations but failed to carry out their projects," the governor said.
