Meulaboh, Aceh (ANTARA Aceh) - As many as 45 hotspots, indicating wildfires, were detected by the Terra and Aqua satellites in West Aceh and Nagan Raya Districts, following the forest and peatland fires in recent days, according to an official.

Angga Yudha, an official of the local meteorological, geophysics, and climatology office, made the remarks here on Monday, adding that the 45 hotspots were detected at 10.00 p.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB).

As many 23 hotspots were found in West Aceh, among others, in the sub-districts of Meureubo, Johan Pahlawan, Samatiga, Kaway XVI, Arongan Lambalek, Woyla Barat, Woyla Timur, and Panton Reu.

The rest were detected in Nagan Raya District, including in the sub-districts of Kuala, Tadu Raya, Beutong, and Darul Makmur, Yudha noted.

Previously, on Friday (Aug 25), three hotspots were detected by the Terra and Aqua satellites in Aceh Province.

According to Zakaria, spokesman of the Blang Bintang meteorological station, the number of hotspots remained the same as those recorded on Thursday evening.

Two hotspots were detected in West Aceh District, respectively, in the sub-districts of Johan Pahlawan and Sama Timba, and one in the Silihnara Sub-district, Central Aceh District.

On Aug 22, some 17 hotspots were detected in six districts in Aceh. On Aug 23, three hotspots were found in one district, while on Aug 24, three hotspots were detected in two districts.
