Blood donation activity carried out by Syiah Kuala University in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Syiah Kuala University in collaboration with PMI Banda Aceh and KSR PMI USK.
USK Blood Donation that held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 in front of the USK student center building. This activity is part of a series of events to commemorate the USK anniversary.
USK Vice Chancellor I, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, gave a ceremonial speech to open the activity. He conveyed his anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic which had an impact on everyone. Departing from these concerns, USK decided to provide assistance to others through blood donation activities.
In his opening remarks, he also said that there were other events such as the distribution of social assistance that would be held the next day.
Based on the results of an interview with the Head of the Event Organizer, Muhammad Fasha, he said that the purpose of holding the USK Blood Donation activity was to commemorate the USK anniversary and because of the limited blood stock in Banda Aceh, which was getting less and less.
"Because the demand for blood every day can reach more than 100 bags, so we are trying for today to reach around 60 to 120 bags of blood," he explained.
Blood bags that have been collected to reach the target will be distributed to PMI Banda Aceh and PMI Banda Aceh will distribute to recipients of donors in need.
“USK is one of the largest donors in the city of Banda Aceh, reaching 700 donors every year. But because it was vacuum for a while, from today's activity the hope is to be able to reach twice the daily target," Fasha said.
