Banda Aceh (Antaranews Aceh) - An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale shook Pidie District, Aceh Province, at 4:12 Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB) early on Friday, the local Geophysics, Climatology and Meteorology Agency (BMKG) said.
According to the BMKG, the earthquake was recorded at 5.61 degrees northern latitude and 95.72 degrees eastern longitude.
Its epicenter is located near the beach lines, some 37 kilometers to the northwest of Sigli, the district town of Pidie. The quake is at a depth of 12 kilometers.
The BMKG said the earthquake had no potential to trigger a tsunami. There was no immediate report of demage.
