Several Indonesian fishermen rescued a cat shark that washed ashore on Pasi Gentheng Beach, Blang Padang Village, Tangan-Tangan Sub-district, Aceh Barat Daya District, Aceh Province, after getting trapped in their fishing net on Sunday afternoon.

"The local traditional fishermen successfully released the ill-fated catshark from the fishing net and helped it return back to sea," Deputy Head of Aceh Barat Daya District Muslizar noted in a statement that ANTARA quoted here, Tuesday.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, most local fishermen prefer poaching near the beach by spreading out their fishing net. The catshark got trapped while they were spreading their fishing net to catch shrimps on Sunday afternoon, he revealed.

Their catch was partly sold and rest was for household consumption, he stated.
